The Packs
Ranks
There are different ranks inside of the packs. Ranks are the same in all packs. They are listed below.
1. Alpha - The leader of a pack. This consists of one male, one female, or the mating pair (the Alpha male and female). All wolves listen to their Alpha without question. They decide everything that goes on inside of their territory. Both the Alpha Male and Alpha Female eat first when game is brought down. Nobody else eats before the Alphas, or they will be attacked. Normally, the Alphas mate for life, or until one dies. They are the most important mating pair, and will have most of the pups. They assign positions to other pack members.
2. Beta - Second in command. Betas can be male or female. They serve as a councelor and a substitute for the Alpha. When the Alpha needs help on important decisions, the Beta is there to help.
3. Epsilons - Sentinels. The warriors of the packs. They help control disputes inside the pack, and also greet newcomers if there are any. They find out if they mean any harm. And if they don't, they make the newcomers feel welcome. They are also strategists who help the Alphas when fights come around between packs. Mostly males, but females can hold this position too.
4. Deltas - Hunters. They make sure that all the wolves in the pack get a chance to participate in hunts. Deltas also make sure that the pack has plenty to eat in scarce times. Position can be held by both males and females.
5. Caretakers - Nurses. Caretakers are the wolves who take care of the pups that are born in their pack. They also tend to the wounded in battle. Caretakers eat after the Deltas when game is brought down. This is a rank mostly held by female wolves, but males can also hold the position.
6. Regular Pack Members - Not all pack members have a job to do. Some may just be regular pack members, but they may be appointed to a task by the Alpha at any time depending on their size or personality. But, even they eat before the Omegas.
7. Omegas - These are the lowest members of the pack. The higher members take out most of their agression on these wolves. They eat last when game is brought down. Pups eat before the Omega Adults and Juveniles. Most omegas have done something horrible in their lifetime but have not been exiled from their pack. Consists of both males and females.
